Air Force must detail hazards at Lowry
By Kristi Arellano, Denver Post Business Writer

The Air Force must issue a new report detailing what went on where at
the former Lowry Air Force Base to help developers identify potential
environmental hazards in the neighborhood.

The state health department today will ask for the report, which will
detail buildings and activities that may have resulted in contamination
to the military site, said Doug Benevento, executive director of the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The former military base is being redeveloped as a neighborhood of
homes, shops and schools.

"There were several items that have been missed," Benevento said. "We
want them to redo the site characterization to make sure there is
nothing else that was previously unaccounted for."

The order applies to the entire redevelopment site.
