Police stopped using the indoor shooting range near Smyrna in January. The building was closed last month after the lead levels in two employees' blood - while remaining within acceptable levels - rose significantly. High lead levels in adults can cause symptoms including difficulties during pregnancy, digestive problems, muscle pain and memory loss, according to federal health data. Gloria Wernicki Homer, secretary of the state Department of Administrative Services, said state officials will use information from Wednesday's report to write specifications for cleaning up the shooting range. The project will be put out for bid around May 10. The state began advertising today for bids to clean the back of the bullet trap; the manufacturer is already scheduled to clean the bullet trap itself, Homer said. Officials are still waiting on a price. ... for the entire story, see http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/local/2004/04/15firingrangetest.html -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org =========================================================== Your opinion counts!
