Residents welcomed the efforts but lamented that they came more than four years after officials first learned of contamination at the facility. "We've had throat cancer. We've had stomach cancer. And the second announced that Florida health department crews had kicked off a detailed look at the health history of the plant's neighbors. Both are measures pressed for by FOCUS, since they learned in October that crews working for Lockheed Martin Corp. in early 2000 discovered that a spill under previous ownership had released a mix of metals and solvents onto the plant grounds and to water beneath it. ... for the entire story, see http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/news/local/8671978.htm -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org =========================================================== Looking for a Promotional or Marketing Gift?
