Eighty-nine of 91 private wells tested south of the plant have tested within legal limits for site contaminants, according to the state Division of Public Health. The Army collected samples from the wells in March and April after tests discovered dinitrotoluene, or DNT, classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a potential carcinogen, in two residential wells south of the facility in December.
