Air Force to seek public input on base cleanupBy TANYA SIERRA Riverside Press-Enterprise (CA) September 14, 2004 The final seven contaminated sites at March Air Reserve Base, which was named a federal Superfund site in 1989, have been cleaned to state and federal requirements, according to an analysis the U.S. Air Force will present to the public on Wednesday. Environmental experts from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the state and area water officials weighed in on the cleanup that has taken place on numerous sites on the base since the mid 1980s. The U.S. Air Force will present its plan Wednesday and seek public input before declaring the contaminated site at March clean. "This plan explains what we believe is necessary to address the environmental concerns at the seven sites," said Air Force spokeswoman Linda Geissinger. … for the entire article, see http://www.pe.com/localnews/morenovalley/stories/PE_News_Local_cleanup14.a0efe.html -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 http://www.cpeo.org
