Submitted by <jempress3@hotmail.com> To all: Please be advised that bottled water is not regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) or Title 40 of the CFR's. It is regulated under Title 21-Food & Beverage and the Clean Water Act for source water. While many bottled water manufacturers feel humanly compelled to keep up with safe drinking water regs and to test their product via safe drinking water methods (EPA 500 Series, note that it is usually per lot they test and leaves room for gaps in true analytical results. For example, the lot that was analyzed has accurate data, but the rest of the lots is assumed and the constituents tested for may or may not be what your state regs impose on your water district or water supplier. The Bottled Water Manufacturer's Association is their to advocate for a good consumable product, but also an entity to advocate for bottled water. Bottled water is not drinking water, legislation is very different and oversight controls are very different, so be an educated consumer and check out the Codified Federal Regs (CFR), then hit the International and National Bottled Water Websites to make good decisions for you and your family. Trust this is helpful, regards Jean -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@list.cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org/mailman/listinfo/military | |
