[Thanks again to the ICMA Military List for spotting this report, too. - LS] Beach Considers Proposal to Buy Homes in Accident Zones Near Oceana WAVY TV 10 (VA) January 7, 2004 For years the Navy and the city of Virginia Beach have been at odds over development. The Navy calls the encroachment around Naval Air Station Oceana the worst in the country - and encroachment will be considered when they decide which bases to close later this year. Experts have spent months - and a couple hundred thousand dollars - trying to come up with a compromise. Some of their ideas, though, have the potential to put some residents near Ocean out of their homes. ...
