For information on how to subscribe, go to http://www.cpeo.org/lists/military/2005/msg00357.html. - LS] Devens disposition should be consensus of community, not town officials By Nathan Lamb Harvard Hillside (MA) April 13, 2005 HARVARD -- Whether Devens becomes its own municipality or returns to the neighboring communities is a question that involves three towns, MassDevelopment, and those who work and live at the former base. While representatives from all those groups are working together on the Devens Disposition Executive Board (DDEB) to craft a ballot question to provide an answer, the DDEB has recognized that each of the stakeholders is likely to have different priorities going into the process and has asked each group to compile "evaluation criteria" as to what constitutes an acceptable outcome under the given scenarios. It is a process currently being carried out by all the stakeholders. In Harvard, the selectmen held a public hearing to review what is already within the criteria and gather input as to what should be added. Officials present noted that for Harvard's view, the answer to final disposition for Devens should be decided by the people, not town officials. ...
