Beale doubts Highlands reportBy Harold Kruge Marysville Appeal-Democrat (CA) June 4, 2005 Nearly 5,000 homes in the Yuba Highlands project would be "an unprecedented encroachment" on Beale Air Force Base and could spark "years of complaints" about PAVE PAWS radar system, according to base officials. Beale this week filed its comment letter on the draft environmental impact report for Yuba Highlands a month after the May 2 deadline. Christine Kohn, Yuba Highlands project manager for Yuba County's Community Development Department, said Beale officials asked to submit their comments after the Pentagon released its base realignment and closure (BRAC) recommendations last month. Beale is slated to stay open, although it may lose one mission. ...
