Overview

This application note describes the development of an IC/MS/MS method 
for the determination of perchlorate (ClO4 –) in food products, e.g., 
fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, alcoholic and non-alcoholic 
beverages, baby foods, and other food products harvested or processed in 
many parts of the world. Samples of food and beverage products from 
around the world were purchased in local grocery stores in or around 
Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The instrumentation consisted of an ion 
chromatography system and an API 2000™ LC/MS/MS System.
