Miramar airport option gets push Panel, over Marines' objections, forwards proposal to share site By Jeff Ristine San Diego Union-Tribune (CA) May 23, 2006 Voters may get the chance to weigh in on whether commercial aircraft and the military should share Miramar Marine Corps Air Station. A proposal for the joint use of Miramar moved one step closer to the November ballot after a San Diego County Regional Airport Authority committee yesterday endorsed the measure while pledging to respect "military readiness and safety." The measure, forwarded to the agency's board of directors on a 3-1 vote, seeks to encourage elected officials to join the campaign for a civilian airport at the Marine Corps installation, despite adamant opposition from the military. ...
