Navy buffer zone workshop draws more than 100 VIKTORIA PEARSON Lahontan Valley News August 25, 2006 More than 100 residents attended the first of two planning workshops to discuss recent revisions to the NAS Fallon buffer zone, changes to the consolidated development code (CDC) and the transfer of development rights ordinance on Tuesday. The workshop began with Eleanor Lockwood, planning director, who gave an overview of the NAS Fallon buffer zone revisions. Little else was discussed during the three hour workshop as focus remained primarily on the Navy base. The area around the base has several different terms: Buffer zone, area of interest and overlay zone, according to the CDC. It is now deemed the "Navy notification area," said Lockwood. "With multiple terms, it appears unclear as to the real meaning," said Lockwood. "That is why we are now referring to it as the Navy notification area." ...
