Odenton Town Center may hinge on BRAC negotiations By JOSHUA STEWART Annapolis Capital March 23, 2008 To receive state money to build the Odenton Town Center, the county may be obligated to negotiate a tax deal with a Texas company that wants to build a massive office park at Fort George G. Meade. The negotiations would create payments from the developer that would replace the property taxes the county usually would receive. In return, the county would be eligible for state funds to support the town center. At Thursday's Senate Budget and Taxation Committee work session, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown pushed for an amendment to a Senate bill that would require counties to at least bargain with developers who want to build private projects on military installations. ...
