MMR citizens advisory panels merged Officials say two separate citizens groups are no longer needed to monitor pollution cleanup at Cape military base. By Jake Berry Cape Cod Times (MA) May 1, 2008 The pair of citizen advisory groups monitoring cleanup efforts at the Massachusetts Military Reservation will be combined into a single body, according to Army and Air Force officials. For a decade, civilians on the Impact Area Review Team have advised the Army Environmental Command's area groundwater study program as it has treated contaminated water on the northern portion of the base, while the Plume Cleanup Team has guided the Air Force's Installation Restoration Program cleanup of the southern portion of the base. As the two efforts have advanced, they have discovered more common ground and less public involvement, ending the need for two separate groups, participants say. ...
