County hopes to buy land around Whiting Field Jeni Senter Northwest Florida Daily News April 28, 2008 Landowners around NAS Whiting Field are ready to sell, and the county is ready to buy. The North Santa Rosa County Military Community Update was held on Wednesday at NAS Whiting Field, Wings Club. Santa Rosa County Commissioner Don Salter provided an update on the proposed Santa Rosa County Aviation Park and discussed land acquisition around NAS Whiting Field, including its outlying fields. Over the last several years, Santa Rosa County has had an aggressive program to purchase land surrounding and adjacent to Whiting Field in an effort to protect the base from encroachment and to secure both the fence line and the air space. ...
