By DONNA WRIGHT Bradenton Herald (FL) July 26, 2008Lockheed Martin Corp. announced Friday night its timetable for the cleanup of the Tallevast pollution plume could be cut almost in half, but failed once again to calm the fears of neighborhood residents who believe the project is putting them at risk. And once again, Lockheed failed to dispel the mistrust that has lingered since 2003 when Tallevast residents found out the company had discovered three years earlier that dangerous chemicals spread from a nearby beryllium plant but never told them it may have leaked into their backyards. Lockheed representatives met with residents at Mount Tabor Church to explain how they were going to safeguard the community's wellbeing over the next four months as two buildings at the beryllium plant site are dismantled to gain access to extract the most contaminated soil at the site of the spill. ...
