Vietnam, U.S. advance cooperation on dioxin-related issues by Xuan Danh Thanh Nien News September 17, 2008Vietnamese and U.S. officials said Tuesday they would set up two working groups to explore environment and health issues associated with Agent Orange, a toxic defoliant sprayed by U.S. forces during the Vietnam War. The Ford Fund has offered financial assistance to support work activities for the two groups, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Michael Michalak told a press briefing Tuesday after the annual meeting of the Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) on Agent Orange in Hanoi. Michalak said the two groups will also benefit from a US$3 million fund that the U.S. government has established to help Vietnam address environmental repercussions in dioxin-affected locations. ...
