AG To Army: Reject Boardman Lane Site Don't Build On Environmentally Sensitive Land, Blumenthal Says WFSB TV-3 News (Hartford, CT) December 10, 2008MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Army Reserve Training Center cannot be built on the Boardman Lane site, or any other environmentally sensitive site in Middletown, without permission from state environmental officials, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said Wednesday. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has narrowed its choices to three Middletown sites, including Boardman Lane, and is expected to announce its final choice before the end of the year. The Corps previously suggested that Boardman Lane was its preferred site. Blumenthal said a full and public environmental review must be conducted on any site before the training facility. But, he said, no facility can be built on the Boardman Lane site without approval of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection because it contains sensitive wetlands and a potentially historic 18th-century farmhouse. ...
