Housing market cushions in place State, federal programs aim to offset BNAS closure impact By Rachel Ganong Brunswick Times Record (ME) January 29, 2009 BRUNSWICK - As real estate agents predict an increasingly difficult housing market to accompany the ongoing closure of Brunswick Naval Air Station, redevelopment officials continue to marshal help for area property owners. MaineHousing Director Dale McCormick has targeted specific MaineHousing programs to help the region fill residences vacated by departing military personnel. In one program, MaineHousing - the new name for the Maine State Housing Authority - will reserve $10 million in tax-exempt loans for multi-family housing in the BNAS area, a sum expected to generate up to $3 million in equity. ...
