House Bill 2056 petition circulating

Residents of Del Rio and Val Verde County are being asked to sign a 
petition urging state legislators to pass a bill that gives the city and 
the county greater control over development around Laughlin Air Force Base.

Members of the Del Rio City Council and Val Verde County Commissioners 
Court earlier this week passed resolutions in support of House Bill 
2056, a bill that would give the city and the county authority to 
regulate development and building within five nautical miles of the 
centerline of the main runway at Laughlin.

The Del Rio City Council unanimously approved a resolution in support of 
House Bill 2056 during its meeting Tuesday night, and Val Verde County 
Commissioners Court followed suit Thursday.
