Weymouth air base developer extends financing deadline
Air base developer now wants to see 'viable' plan for financing by May 29

WEYMOUTH -

The company redeveloping the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station has 
given the agency that oversees the base another month to develop a 
"viable" financing plan.

LNR Property Corp. warned South Shore Tri-Town Development Corp. at the 
beginning of April that it might develop only a portion of the sprawling 
SouthField project unless Tri-Town came up with a plan that would enable 
LNR to get returns on its investment.

LNR says it has invested about $72 million in building infrastructure at 
the 1,400-care base, about 835 acres of which the U.S. Navy still owns.
