Ingleside LRA fighting escalates over base land, federal dollars Disagreements involve U.S. Rep. Ortiz By Fanny S. Chirinos Corpus Christi Caller-Times (TX) June 23, 2009CORPUS CHRISTI — The Ingleside Local Redevelopment Authority ended what may prove to be its last meeting Monday in the same tone as the group was established two years ago amid political bickering. In 2007, the issues were whether the group should exist, who should be in charge and who should serve as board members. On Monday, the issues were whether it should continue to exist, who should be appointed to the board and whether some current members are ineligible. ....The authority, established in 2007, is charged with planning the redevelopment of 155 mostly underwater surplus acres of Naval Station Ingleside. The vast majority of Naval Station Ingleside property -- 912 acres -- will belong to the Port of Corpus Christi, which has entered an agreement with the Texas A&M University System to oversee its redevelopment. The 912 acres goes to the port because the port donated that land for the base. ....
