The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offered an update Wednesday on their ongoing investigation into contamination at the former Lake Ontario Ordnance Works and Niagara Falls Storage Site.

During a meeting at the Town of Lewiston senior citizens center, representatives from the Army Corps and its engineering team unveiled the findings of a recent analysis they said shows some areas of the property where there are potential chemical risks to humans and the environment, but none so severe as to be a threat to public health in the surrounding community.

"There's nothing that would require an immediate action to address a potential health risk," said Michelle Rhodes, acting project manager for the Niagara Falls Storage Site.
