LEWISTON: Army Corps: No public health risk at LOOW site No progress made on LOOW restoration advisory board By Mark Scheer Niagara Gazette (NY) September 17, 2009The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offered an update Wednesday on their ongoing investigation into contamination at the former Lake Ontario Ordnance Works and Niagara Falls Storage Site. During a meeting at the Town of Lewiston senior citizens center, representatives from the Army Corps and its engineering team unveiled the findings of a recent analysis they said shows some areas of the property where there are potential chemical risks to humans and the environment, but none so severe as to be a threat to public health in the surrounding community. "There's nothing that would require an immediate action to address a potential health risk," said Michelle Rhodes, acting project manager for the Niagara Falls Storage Site. ...
