Military postpones bombing range talks with Pamlico commissioners Charlie Hall ENC Today (NC) September 20, 2009BAYBORO - A military request to suspend action on expansion of a bombing range in Pamlico Sound has canceled a planned presentation tonight to Pamlico County commissioners by representatives from Cherry Point Marine air station. The commissioners recently gave unanimous support to an opposition-to-expansion petition by a Pamlico County-based group called Citizens Earnestly Against Serious Expansion From Increasing Range Encroachment. The board also asked that the military give a presentation on the issue, too. A weekend release from the air station said Cherry Point requested the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers place a six-month suspension on action or evaluation of the expansion of an area known as Bombing Target-11, near Piney Island, ...
