Public input sought on Fort McPherson development Collin Atlanta INTown (GA) March 10, 2010Atlanta City Councilmembers Joyce M. Sheperd, Cleta Winslow, Keisha Lance Bottoms and the City of Atlanta’s Bureau of Planning seek public input in developing a zoning and land-use blueprint in anticipation of the closure of the Fort McPherson base. The historic base has been ballyhooed as the next Atlantic Station, as well as being an incubator for technology. The Fort McPherson Zoning and Land-Use Blueprint public meetings will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the Atlanta Technical College, 1560 Metropolitan Parkway, starting tonight (March 10) in the Academic Complex Auditorium. Additional meetings will be held March 17, March 24 (in the Dennard Center Ballroom) and March 31. In total, the Ft. McPherson Redevelopment Project is expected to generate 7,000 jobs and with another 5,000 to 6,000 created indirectly from the development. The site should also create between $7.4 million and $16.2 million annually in property taxes, according to the Ft. McPherson Planning Local Redevelopment Authority. ...
