Trace radioactivity found on NN shipyard worker's clothing By Peter Frost Daily Press (VA) June 8, 2010NEWPORT NEWS - A trace amount of radioactive material was found on the clothing of a worker at Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Newport News shipyard, triggering a detailed investigation, a yard spokeswoman confirmed. The employee was performing radiological surveys in a tank aboard the nuclear-powered USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier on May 25 when the contamination occurred, the yard said. No detectable radioactivity was found on the worker's skin or internally and the incident did not result in an "adverse impact to the employee's health, the public or the environment," said Margaret Mitchell-Jones, a Northrop spokeswoman. The yard did not name the worker, who has returned to his job. ...
