Army says plume may have reached Picture Lake in Bourne

BOURNE - Another groundwater contamination plume from the Massachusetts 
Military Reservation has been detected at the base boundary. The plume 
may have crossed beneath MacArthur Boulevard and reached Pocasset.

The U.S. Army Environmental Command's Impact Area Groundwater Study 
Program last week said an investigation in MMR's Demolition Area 1 is 
involved, and contamination may have reached the Picture Lake area.

The Army seeks permission to drill test borings along town-owned roads, 
specifically Albert, Sabbatt and Williams Avenues.

Town Administrator Thomas Guerino and Bourne Highway Surveyor Rickie 
Tellier inspected the areas Monday afternoon. Guerino said there are no 
drinking water concerns.
