Jet fuel clean-up set for Beale AFB

Jet fuel and other pollutants that have leaked into groundwater at  
Beale Air Force Base, west of Grass Valley, will be cleaned up or  
monitored for further action, according to proposals released by the  
base.

Sources of the contamination include an above-ground jet fuel storage  
tank, a bulk fuel storage facility, underground storage tanks  
throughout the base, a photowaste emergency holding basin, a burn pit  
and the Ninth Mission Support Group transportation refueling vehicle  
maintenance shop, according to base documents.

Pollutants of concern include diesel, gasoline, trichloroethylene,  
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, carbon tetracloride and  
vinyl chloride, according to base documents.
