Army plans to stop water cleanup By Jeremiah Tucker Sauk Prairie Eagle (WI) October 10, 2012Regardless of whether local municipalities decide to move forward with a public drinking water system for residents near the Badger Army Ammunition Plant, the Army is moving forward with plans to suspend its cleanup of contaminated groundwater. The reason, according to Army and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials, is that fewer and fewer contaminants are being removed from the water pumped to the treatment system, to the point that the system’s usefulness is no longer clear.
