HomeFront charity to take over Marine Reserve Center in Ewing

EWING - HomeFront, the charity dedicated to ending homelessness in  
the Mercer region, will soon begin construction on its new  
headquarters as it takes over the decommissioned Marine Reserve  
Center in Ewing.

The organization will retrofit a 42,000-square-foot building located  
on the 8.5-acre base in the main building of the HomeFront Family  
Campus, which will bring together in one location many of the  
services that the organization already provides.

"There’s no question this is transformational both for HomeFront and  
for the clients we serve," said Connie Mercer, HomeFront’s president  
and CEO.

The base, which was closed on the recommendation of the 2005 Base  
Closure and Realignment Commission report, is located just north of  
Trenton-Mercer Airport, near the intersection of Sam Weinroth Road  
and Scotch Road. The Marine operations at the base were transferred  
to Fort Dix, which has since become Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
