Report finds current cleanup method at Cheyenne missile site inadequate Study on Army Corps of Engineers' work was sought by Wyoming DEQ By TREVOR GRAFF Casper Star-Tribune (WY) October 3, 2014A recently released study commissioned by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality found that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' process for mitigating groundwater contamination at an Atlas missile site west of Cheyenne is inadequate. Intera Geoscience and Engineering Solutions engineers say that by neglecting to fully characterize the source of the pollution at Missile Site 4, the corps is resorting to pumping water and treating it midway between the source zone and a Cheyenne water well field rather than at its source. ...
