Norwalk to expand Chet Holifield Park

NORWALK - The City Council will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Aug. 18 to mark the addition of 15 acres from the U.S. Defense Fuel Support Point, locally known as the Tank Farm, at 12700 Norwalk Blvd. to adjoining Chet Holifield Park, fronting on Bloomfield Avenue at Excelsior Drive.

The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served, Administrative Analyst Adriana Figueroa said.

It is a follow up of the council action Aug. 2 to approve a quitclaim deed from the U.S. Defense Department, transferring the 15 acres at the east end of the 51-acre Tank Farm to the city at a cost to the city of $10.
A chain link fence will be erected around the west side of the 15 acres to separate it from the remaining 36 acres of the former Air Force Fuel Storage Depot.
