Managing Sites Impacted by 1,4-Dioxane: New Developments in Molecular Tools and Conceptual Site Models

Dr. Pedro Alvarez, Rice University
Dr. David Adamson, GSI Environmental

Thursday, June 28, 2018
12:00 PM ET (9:00 AM PT)

Join SERDP and ESTCP on Thursday, June 28 for a webinar detailing results from SERDP and ESTCP funded research to better manage sites impacted by 1,4-dioxane. First, Dr. Pedro Alvarez of Rice University will discuss the development of catabolic gene probes to quantify the presence and _expression_ of 1,4-dioxane biodegradation genes. These gene probes can be used to assess a site’s intrinsic bioremediation capacity and support monitored natural attenuation (MNA) decisions at 1,4-dioxane-contaminated sites. Next, Dr. David Adamson of GSI Environmental will discuss new research on 1,4-dioxane behavior in the environment suggesting changes to our conceptual site model of dioxane plumes and implications for management and treatment. To view speaker abstracts and biographies, and to register for this free webinar, please visit https://www.serdp-estcp.org/Tools-and-Training/Webinar-Series/06-28-2018.
