Residents near Badger Army Ammunition Plant want more done as Baldwin pushes Army on cleanup

More than a year after the Army abandoned a plan to build a municipal water system for residents living near a shuttered ammunition plant, Sen. Tammy Baldwin says the Army needs to reconsider building the system.

Baldwin, a Democrat who is running for re-election, directed the Army in a bipartisan Senate bill this month to reconsider a plan to build a municipal water system for residents living near the Badger Army Ammunition Plant near Baraboo.

Her office this week said she “remains concerned by the Army’s reversal to construct the drinking water system,” and emphasized the Army needs to aggressively clean up contamination at the Badger site.
