Guam firefighters sue over toxic foam

Twenty-three Guam firefighters have brought a class-action lawsuit against manufacturers and distributors of firefighting foam over alleged exposure to toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl chemicals contained in the material. 

The firefighters are "asking for a medical monitoring program and for damages resulting from exposure to Aqueous Film-Forming Foams (AFFF)," according to a press release from the law office of attorney Michael J. Berman. "This is a product liability case against the large companies that manufactured and sold these harmful products." 

In addition, the suit seeks an award of attorney fees and costs, and any other relief the court deems proper, documents state.
