http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/news/article/0,1299,DRMN_3_13323,00.html Bush, environmentalists agree: clean up brownfields By JOAN LOWY Rocky Mountain News President Bush and environmentalists - at loggerheads on issues ranging from oil drilling in Alaska to clean air standards - are finding rare common ground on the issue of cleaning up urban brownfields. Helping state and local governments tackle brownfields has broad political support and, consequently, may result in the only legislative initiative to clear Congress this year that brings the administration and environmentalists together. "I'm relatively optimistic that the stars are aligning so that we can have this growing consensus become the law of the land," said Richard Munson, executive director of the Northeast-Midwest Institute, a think tank for members of Congress from those two regions. "This could be the signature environmental accomplishment for the Bush administration."
