PTI Presents Summit on Brownfield Technologies Public Technology, Inc. presents the Local Government Brownfield Technology Summit, March 6-7, 2001 at the Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth, TX. The goal of this two-day summit is to introduce and discuss, in a non-technical format, what technologies are available for brownfield clean up and how these technologies can save time and money for local governments. The summit will also further public/private partnerships and increase the use of proven technologies within the following common problem areas: Dry cleaners; gas stations; municipal landfills; and manufactured gas plants. Registration for the Summit is free to local government officials. Day one of the summit will consist of breakout sessions where local government officials will provide their unique perspectives on how certain technologies have been used within their cities or counties to clean up specific sites. Day two will consist of facilitated group discussions on key issues such as choosing an innovative technology to use at specific sites and developing creative partnerships. The Local Government Brownfield Technology Summit also offers attendees the unique opportunity to talk with private sector experts about the status of brownfield redevelopment in their jurisdictions. Officials can learn how to evaluate alternative technology proposals, how to contract for services in a way that protects the jurisdiction, and how to connect to networks like PTI to confirm the effectiveness, cost, and appropriateness of brownfield technologies. The Local Government Brownfield Technology Summit is sponsored by PTI, EPA's Technology Innovation Office (TIO), the City of Fort Worth's Environmental Management Department, and the Institute for Responsible Management (IRM). Registration is free for local government officials attending the summit. The preliminary agenda and registration is available on-line at www.brownfieldstech.org, or by contacting Ronda Mosley-Rovi, Director of Environmental Programs at PTI, phone 202-626-2455. PTI is the technology arm of the National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties, and the International City/County Management Association.
