Dear Brownfields Activists, The IHEAL Directory of Health & Environment Links is a portal to hundreds of electronic databases and information resources developed by Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition's International Campaign for Responsible Technology. The 450 indexed sites found on http://www.iheal.org cover themes and tools of special interest to environmental health advocates: Air and Climate Chemicals Environmental, Public and Occupational Health Environmental Law and Security Pollution Prevention Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers / Public Right-to-know Water and Earth Global Positioning Systems/Earth Satellite Data GIS, Digital Mapping and Map Collections as well as links to many community-based organizations working on RTK, Pollutant Registers and Chemical Safety around the globe. In preparation for the upcoming UN/ECE Aarhus Convention PRTR Working Group Meeting on 28 Feb-2 March 2001, and Electronic Tools Task Force Workshop, 8-9 March 2001, the Interactive Health Ecology Access Links Network has completed a thorough upgrading of its website www.iheal.org. New features on the IHEAL website include * IHEAL Portal Description and Highlighted List of Features & Services, including Free GIS Mapping Resources by Clary Meuser Research Network * IHEAL Reports: "Note of the Czech Republic on the PRTR Task Force" * Email contacts to IHEAL Network members working on "GIS Research and Electronic Access", "Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers" & "Environment & Health Research and Communications" * Multilingual "Send a Question" feature allowing viewers to make inquires in -- Bulgarian -- Czech -- English -- Polish -- Portuguese -- Romanian -- Russian -- Slovak -- Spanish -- Tagalog -- Ukrainian (and soon Japanese, Malay and Indonesian as well). * Additional Aarhus related links to -- UN/ECE "Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision Making, and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters" -- "ECO-Forum Public Participation Campaign" -- "Aarhus PRTR Task Force" pages developed by Nadace Partnerstvi -- Status of Aarhus Convention Ratification and * IHEAL Database Links to -- Romanian Mining Disasters website on Green Spider -- New Electronic recycling maps of northern California, developed by SVTC and the Bay Area Shared Information Consortium (BASIC) We hope these new IHEAL features will enhance the value users find in Interactive Health Ecology Access Links - www.iheal.org.
