Environmental testing set to begin at former Lyman textile plant By Chris Lavender Spartanburg Herald-Journal (SC) June 12, 2019 Environmental testing will begin soon at the abandoned mill on Pacific Street in Lyman to determine how best to clean up the site with hopes of seeing it redeveloped. The town of Lyman hopes the 50–acre property could be redeveloped bringing new life to an area that has become an eyesore after the plant closed in 2005. All of the plant’s structures were torn down in 2012 except for a five-story building, the mill’s boiler room and smokestacks. The Environmental Protection Agency agreed in April to provide the town with technical assistance in testing the site. The testing will be done in two phases and will be completed later this year. After testing is complete, informational meetings will be held with property owners who own land at the site. … For the entire article, see https://www.goupstate.com/news/20190612/environmental-testing-set-to-begin-at-former-lyman-textile-plant -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center P.O.
