New vision for two megaprojects: One development of almost 4,000 homes across SF and San Mateo counties by J.K. Dineen San Francisco Chronicle (CA) September 16, 2019 Three years ago, a San Francisco supervisor threatened to annex the former Baylands landfill in Brisbane if the bordering town didn’t agree to build housing on the 660-acre site. Now, not only is Brisbane planning 2,200 units of housing on the former dump, but the builder behind the Baylands development plans to combine it with the neighboring Schlage Lock property, a former lock factory that sits just across the San Francisco line. Together, the project will be one unified neighborhood with almost 4,000 homes across two counties.
