Air Force OKs land for FSU

LYNN HAVEN -The U.S. Air Force has agreed to transfer 40 acres of its 
Lynn Haven fuel depot to Florida State University for a satellite campus 
likely to offer marine research and crime scene investigation training.

A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Monticello, announced the plan 
Tuesday via conference call with Lynn Haven officials. The transfer is 
included in language of the National Defense Authorization Act, which 
the House has passed, but the Senate has yet to vote on. The city, FSU 
and Air Force have signed an agreement supporting FSU's use of the 40 acres.

"We've not surveyed the site yet to determine what 40 acres we're going 
to get, but we're interested in the dock area," FSU President T.K. 
Wetherell said.
