[CPEO-MEF] DOD wants comments of Land Use Controls policy

We already posted a couple of messages about the Defense Department's
"Interim Policy on Land Use Controls Associated with Environmental
Restoration Activities," available on the web at 
http://www.dtic.mil/envirodod/envdocs.html.

Today I received a copy in the mail from the Defense Environmental
Cleanup office, making it clear that the document is being circulated
"on an interim basis to gather input from stakeholders and gain
experience implementing the policy."

The cover letter also notes: "Our framework is not intended to provide
remedy selection guidance, and it assumes that the environmental
decision on restricting land use has been made following applicable
statutes and regulations."

Comments on the document may be sent by November 1, 2000, to the Office
of the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Environmental
Cleanup), 3400 Defense Pentagon, Washington, DC 20301-3400.
