Voicing doubts about the effectiveness of the Restoration Advisory Board (RAB)-- a group of individuals and organizations advising the Navy on the environmental cleanup of the base -- the League of Women Voters of Los Altos-Mountain View recently sent a letter to the Navy and NASA. This is the very reason the funds for the total clean up of all closed/open bases should come from one fund. Not two, three or more funds. To many people controlling the clean up. When the clean up of explosives in buildings and sewer lines and the clean up asbestos covers steam lines comes from one fund (non-RAB over site) and any thing that is on the ground around the building called SWMU's (Solid Waste Management Units) that can be spoken to by the RAB's we will have this problem. It is now time the members of this list attempt to get the total clean up of all closed bases under one fund. Ask "Sherri Goodman" why we cannot achieve just one fund for the total clean up? There are to many people wanting to make a career out of the clean up's. Jim Oyler, RAB member SFAAP ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | |
